The Client

Our client is a rapidly scaling, venture-backed consumer brand operating across multiple sales channels including direct-to-consumer, retail, wholesale, and online marketplaces. With a strong brand presence and continued expansion across product lines and geographies, the business is investing heavily in building a best-in-class finance function to support its next phase of growth.

The Role

We are seeking an Assistant Controller to take ownership of core accounting operations and lead the execution of a timely and accurate close process. This individual will play a key role in ensuring financial integrity, strengthening internal processes, and supporting a high-performing accounting team. The role offers significant exposure across the business and is ideal for someone who enjoys being hands-on while also driving improvements and building scalable infrastructure.

Responsibilities

• Oversee general ledger activity, ensuring accuracy across all revenue channels
• Lead month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes
• Review journal entries, reconciliations, and financial reporting outputs
• Manage Accounts Payable operations and oversee outsourced Accounts Receivable functions
• Monitor cash flow drivers including payables, receivables, and collections activity
• Drive process enhancements to improve efficiency, accuracy, and scalability
• Support the development and maintenance of internal controls and audit readiness
• Act as a key point of contact for external auditors and advisors
• Oversee inventory accounting including costing, reconciliations, and margin analysis
• Partner cross-functionally with Operations and Systems teams to ensure data integrity
• Serve as the internal NetSuite expert across accounting workflows and reporting
• Mentor and develop junior team members while fostering accountability and strong execution

What We Need to See (Essential)

• 5–8 years of progressive accounting experience
• Prior experience managing or mentoring team members
• Strong foundation in core accounting operations including AP/AR oversight
• Experience with inventory, cost of goods sold, and revenue recognition
• Hands-on experience with NetSuite
• Exposure to audits and maintaining internal controls
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment

What We’d Like to See (Bonus)

• Background in consumer products, retail, or eCommerce businesses
• Public accounting experience (audit preferred)
• Experience with marketplace or wholesale accounting environments
• Exposure to high-growth or transformation-focused organizations
• CPA or progress toward certification
