We’re Hiring: Assistant Controller / Controller Statesville, NC (On-site / Hybrid)

Read all the way to the bottom *

Lindner Recyclingtech America is the U.S. subsidiary of the Lindner Group, delivering market-leading industrial shredding and recycling equipment across North America. We’re a lean, agile team of roughly 18 people, and we’re actively expanding beyond equipment sales into multi-million-dollar, plant-scale systems. This role is a genuine growth opportunity - step in as a hands-on Assistant Controller/Senior Accountant with a clear path to take on more as we scale.

Location: Statesville, North Carolina (On-site) possibility for remote work

Reports To: CEO

Direct Reports: Accountant

Employment Type: Full-Time, Exempt

The Opportunity

We’re seeking a senior, hands-on Assistant Controller / Controller to lead our finance function alongside our existing Accountant. This is a unique role that combines direct operational work with senior influence - you’ll share day-to-day accounting duties while owning financial reporting, tax coordination, inter-company operations, and strategic advisory for management and our foreign parent company. If you thrive in a collaborative environment where you can execute detailed work while holding a genuine seat at the leadership table, this role is for you.

Key Responsibilities

Accounting & Financial Reporting

  • Share hands-on operational responsibility for month-end and year-end close with senior sign-off
  • Prepare monthly reporting packages, financial statements, and performance updates for the parent company and executive team
  • Manage inventory and machine cost accounting (landed costs, freight capitalization, margin tracking by machine/parts/service)
  • Oversee intercompany accounting and revenue recognition for multi-period, plant-scale projects

Financial Planning & Analysis

  • Lead annual budgeting, rolling forecasts, and active cash flow planning
  • Conduct segment/product-line margin analysis and provide data-driven pricing support to sales
  • Deliver clear variance analysis detailing the root drivers behind financial performance

Treasury, Tax & Risk Management

  • Oversee banking relationships, liquidity, and daily cash management
  • Coordinate federal, state, and sales/use tax filings alongside external advisors
  • Manage corporate insurance programs (renewals, coverage evaluations, claims) and work with outside counsel on commercial contracts
  • Ensure proper cost accounting for imports, tariffs, and customs in partnership with operations

Controls, Systems & Leadership

  • Maintain lean internal controls, documented processes, and clear separation of duties
  • Serve as the functional owner and driver of continuous improvement for our ERP system
  • Partner closely with the Accountant, providing prioritization, senior guidance, and support during high-volume periods
  • Act as the primary financial voice for North American operations to external advisors, banks, auditors, and global parent leadership

Qualifications & Skills

Education & Experience: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required (CPA or MBA preferred). 7+ years of progressive accounting experience, including at least 3 years as a Sr Accountant, Assistant Controller, Controller or equivalent.

Industry Background: Demonstrated background in manufacturing, capital equipment, industrial distribution, or construction. Comprehensive inventory and cost accounting experience is required.

Technical Skills: Strong capability with ERP systems and advanced Excel. Knowledge of project/percentage-of-completion accounting and intercompany transactions with a foreign parent company is highly preferred.

Mindset & Communication: Comfortable working hands-on in a lean team environment. Confident communicator capable of challenging decisions, articulating financial concepts to non-finance partners, and holding firm positions with senior stakeholders.
