Job Description
Job Summary
GSec LLC is hiring an experienced Facility Security Officer (FSO) to help us manage multiple client security programs. If you enjoy variety, autonomy, and working with multiple small to mid-sized defense contractors instead of being tied to a single facility, this role is for you.
You will act as the day-to-day FSO (or delegated FSO) for a portfolio of clients, keeping their industrial security programs running smoothly, audit-ready, and compliant with 32 CFR Part 117 (NISPOM) and DCSA expectations.
All work is remote unless we need boots on the ground for a self-inspection or security review.
What You’ll Be Doing
Managing Multiple Client Security Programs
- Own and manage multiple cleared client portfolios simultaneously.
- Serve as each client’s go-to industrial security expert, advisor, and problem-solver.
- Balance competing priorities, deadlines, and personalities while keeping programs compliant and moving forward.
Personnel Security (PERSEC)
- Handle the full clearance lifecycle across clients, including submissions, upgrades, transfers, and periodic reinvestigations.
- Maintain accurate clearance rosters, access lists, and briefing/debriefing records.
- Track investigation status and follow up before clients even know there is an issue.
Systems & Access
- Work daily in NBIS, DISS, and NISS (current access strongly preferred).
- Process visits, role assignments, SMO updates, and related access actions.
- Coordinate fingerprints and investigation tracking as needed.
Self-Inspections & Reviews
- Lead annual self-inspections for assigned clients from start to finish.
- Help clients prepare for and attend DCSA Security Reviews
- Track findings and corrective actions through closure.
Training & Support
- Deliver and document security education, insider threat awareness, and refresher briefings.
- Answer real-time questions.
- Draft and review DD-254s, DD-441s, annexes, and security SOPs.
- Keep documentation clean, accurate, and audit-ready across multiple programs.
- Support incidents, adverse information reporting, and insider threat activities when they pop up.
What We’re Looking For
Required
- Active Security Clearance
- Hands-on, current experience with NBIS, DISS, and NISS.
- Experienced working proficiency in Microsoft 365 (O365) required (Outlook, Teams, SharePoint, OneDrive). This role relies heavily on daily use of these tools, and we will assess competency during interviews.
- Experience serving as an FSO or senior AFSO in a DoD industrial security environment.
- Proven experience managing self-inspections and remediation activities.
- Experience with both possessing and non-possessing facilities.
- Strong working knowledge of NISPOM (32 CFR Part 117) and DCSA expectations.
- Comfortable juggling multiple projects at once.
- Clear communicator, strong writer, and naturally organized.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently in a fully remote environment, stay highly organized, and precisely track billable hours using a provided timekeeping system.
Nice to Have (But Not Required)
- Familiarity with the Tru-Vetting Platform (or similar)
- COMSEC experience.
- FOCI exposure (SF-328s, mitigation discussions, or coordination).
- SCI experience.
- Experience supporting small businesses or startups in the DIB.
Work Style & Environment
- Fully remote.
- Occasional travel for self-inspections or security reviews.
- Flexible schedule based on client needs and portfolio size.
- Fast-paced, but supportive and collaborative.
This Role Is Not for You If…
- You are seeking a physical security or security guard position. This role focuses on industrial security compliance, personnel clearances, and regulatory program management, not on guarding facilities or monitoring access points.
- Your background is primarily in law enforcement, armed security, or physical protection without hands-on experience in DoD industrial security programs.
- You have not worked directly in NBIS, DISS, or NISS and are not familiar with how those systems are used day to day.
- You are looking to support a single facility or employer only. This role requires managing multiple client security programs simultaneously.
- You prefer tightly scripted tasks and step-by-step instructions rather than exercising judgment and prioritizing work independently.
- You are uncomfortable working in a fully remote environment where communication, organizati…
