Job Description
Referment is working with a fintech providing card and payments platforms to financial institutions and other businesses. It is looking for a product leader with deep payments expertise to shape and deliver its payments platform, with a particular focus on cross-border money movement.
You’ll combine product strategy with the practical work of getting releases and partner implementations delivered. A central part of the remit is improving how transactions move across available rails: defining routing choices, understanding settlement and reconciliation, and assessing where alternative settlement methods have a clear cost or speed advantage.
You’ll partner with executive leadership and engineering, align operational and commercial stakeholders, and build and mentor a product team. This is a remote role within the US or Canada, working on Eastern Time.
The Role
- Drive payment product delivery from definition through release and B2B partner implementation, keeping teams accountable for quality and timelines.
- Optimise ACH, RTP/FedNow, wires and cross-border payment flows, defining routing that balances transaction cost and settlement speed.
- Pilot stablecoin settlement where there is a clear business case compared with correspondent banking.
- Work with compliance, risk and treasury colleagues on tokenised rails, reserve attestation, sanctions screening, settlement and reconciliation.
- Partner with engineering on APIs, workflows and integrations so product decisions are grounded in platform architecture.
- Own product KPIs and commercial outcomes, contributing to positioning, pricing and go-to-market decisions.
- Build and mentor the product team and establish clear alignment across engineering, operations, risk, compliance and commercial teams.
What We’re Looking For
- At least seven years of product leadership experience, with deep US and Canadian payments knowledge and a strong cross-border specialism.
- Understanding of payment flows, tokenised payments, authorisation, settlement and reconciliation, including their operational and regulatory implications.
- Practical experience with payment rails, money movement or financial services APIs, and fluency in integrations and platform architecture.
- Evidence of connecting product strategy and delivery to measurable business outcomes.
- Strong analytical and commercial judgement, executive communication skills and the ability to align teams around delivery decisions.
Useful Additional Experience Platform-as-a-service or embedded finance experience would be valuable, as would work in fraud, risk or compliance products. Exposure to AI or large language models in payments or product automation is a preference, not a core qualification.
This could suit a payments product director or senior product leader whose experience spans cross-border infrastructure, regulated money movement and hands-on platform delivery.
