Job Description
Help build software that makes finding, applying for, and managing job opportunities easier.
Applyline brings job discovery, application preparation, automated workflows, email, and application tracking into one workspace. We’re looking for a Software Engineer to help improve the product and build reliable services behind it. The work spans the user-facing application, backend automation, and our employer hiring tools.
What you’ll work on
-
Build clear, responsive interfaces for onboarding, profiles, job discovery, applications, and hiring.
-
Develop backend services that prepare application materials, process jobs, and track workflow progress.
-
Integrate job boards, employer application systems, email providers, and payment services.
-
Improve browser automation so workflows handle changing forms, missing information, verification steps, and failures clearly.
-
Build our hiring platform, including Careers pages, applicant intake, candidate pipelines, and job distribution.
-
Improve application performance, database queries, background workers, monitoring, and recovery.
-
Write meaningful tests, investigate production issues, and carry changes through deployment.
What we’re looking for
-
Experience building web applications with TypeScript or JavaScript, React, and backend services.
-
Familiarity with relational databases, API integrations, authentication, and background processing.
-
The ability to debug problems across the interface, server, database, and third-party services.
-
A practical approach to testing, security, and handling sensitive user information.
-
Clear communication about implementation choices, progress, and problems.
-
An interest in taking ownership of a feature from development through production.
Experience that would be useful
-
Next.js, Node.js, and PostgreSQL.
-
Playwright or other browser automation tools.
-
AI integrations using structured outputs, validation, and evaluation.
-
Email, Stripe, recruiting systems, or job-board integrations.
-
Deploying and operating containerized applications.
How to apply
Submit your résumé on our Careers site: https://careers.applyline.ai/careers/3137a055-cd80-4d62-9aa5-c6a71e887ad7. Include a short example of something you built, a difficult technical problem you solved, or a production system you helped improve. A portfolio or GitHub link is welcome if you have one.
This is a full-time, fully remote Software Engineer role with an annual salary of $100,000 USD.
A closer look at the work
This role connects the product people see with the services that make it work. A feature may start with an applicant uploading a résumé, continue through a background worker preparing application materials, and finish with a status update or an email. You will help make those transitions reliable and understandable. The employer side has a similar journey: a hiring team creates a role, publishes it, receives candidate applications, and follows up through the hiring pipeline.
Product and interface development
Build interfaces that make the next action clear. Improve form validation, loading states, error messages, accessibility, and responsive layouts. Help users understand what has been saved, what is in progress, and what needs their input. Work on application review screens, profile editing, résumé previews, and employer workflows. Keep important actions usable when services are slow or a third-party integration is unavailable.
Backend systems and integrations
Develop APIs and background workflows that can recover from failures. Keep task state durable, avoid duplicate actions, and record evidence when an external system confirms an outcome. Integrate email events, payments, job data, and employer forms using the appropriate API or browser workflow. Treat timeouts, retries, changing form fields, and partial responses as normal engineering problems that need clear behavior and useful diagnostics.
Automation and AI features
Help improve the preparation of résumé edits, cover letters, and application answers. Use structured outputs and validation so generated material remains grounded in information the user provided. Build tests around the difficult cases, including missing information and mismatched inputs. For browser workflows, distinguish a completed submission from an attempted click, and make uncertain outcomes visible rather than reporting success prematurely.
