Pay: $18.00 per hour
Schedule: A few hours per week | Location: 100% remote | Classification: 1099 independent contractor

Overview
We’re looking for an experienced, self-directed Billing, Insurance & Credentialing Virtual Assistant to support our remote healthcare billing team on a very part-time basis. This role suits someone who already knows medical billing and provider credentialing well and wants flexible, low-hour work they can manage independently.

Responsibilities

Billing & Insurance

• Verify patient insurance eligibility and benefits
• Call insurance companies to research and resolve claim issues, denials, and rejections
• Work accounts receivable (AR) aging reports to identify outstanding balances and prioritize follow-up
• Track outstanding claims and follow up to keep them moving
• Support billing tasks across multiple practice management/EHR systems, including SimplePractice, eClinicalWorks, TheraNest, TherapyNotes, and others

Credentialing

• Complete and submit initial credentialing and recredentialing applications with commercial payers, Medicare, and Medicaid
• Create, update, and re-attest provider CAQH profiles
• Follow up with payers on application status and document progress
• Track expiration dates for licenses, malpractice coverage, and other provider documents

Administrative Support

• Reschedule appointments and send correspondence and emails to patients as needed
• Communicate clearly and professionally with insurance representatives by phone

Requirements

• Proven experience in medical billing, insurance claims follow-up, and working AR aging reports
• Hands-on experience completing payer credentialing and enrollment applications (CAQH, PECOS, commercial payers)
• Comfortable working independently with minimal supervision; this is a self-managed role
• Highly organized and detail-oriented, with strong follow-through
• Resourceful self-starter who can figure things out without every step spelled out
• Experience with SimplePractice, eClinicalWorks, TheraNest, or TherapyNotes preferred
• Reliable communication skills
